A Day at KAO

KAO’s teachers and students know that there are no shortcuts to academic success. Our extended school day, week, and year enable students to acquire the necessary academic knowledge and skills, and expose them to broad extracurricular experiences that will prepare them for competitive high schools and colleges. More time in the classroom also allows us to offer extended instruction in reading, writing, and math, which is essential for many of our students, who come to KAO at least two years behind.

  • Extended school day: More time on task is central to the success of KAO students. Students attend school Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Extended school week: Students attend school every other Saturday for six hours. Saturday School gives students the opportunity to take enrichment classes.
  • Extended school year: Students attend school for two additional weeks every summer.
