LA girl
January 17, 2009
This is me and the 11 other KIPPsters standing behind the US Capitol.
Today, a lot of people were saying that yesterday was colder than today. However I disagree. It was really cold today to me, I can honestly say I couldn't feel my fingers at all. You don't even know how much it hurt.
Today we woke up bright and early so some of us could take showers and write blogs. We all made our lunch and ate breakfast. For breakfast, Coach Cadres made oatmeal. She also had sliced banana, walnuts, and GOLD sugar. She made each KIPPster put at least a little bit of bananas and walnuts in our oatmeal. I got a little bit of milk put into my cereal too.
We next walked to Georgetown University. A lady that goes to Georgetown University showed us around. Her name was Rachel. She decided to be our tour guide for the day. She is part of the blue and grey society. Those colors meant that they were neutral during the civil war. She showed us the food court. We also saw Healy Hall. They had lots of traditions. Two of them stood out the most to me. One was to not step on the seal on the ground, walk around it. People were told that if you step on it you would have to stay in school for more years than you're supposed to.
Also, we went to the U.S. Capitol. I was very excited to be standing where the 250,000 people will be seated watching Obama being sworn in. It was so empty on the Mall compared to how many people will be there on that morning.
We saw the Supreme Court and we also saw the Library of Congress. Next we went to the Air and Space Museum. We took lots of pictures and had lots of fun. When we got back at the house we all sat down, because we were tired from all that walking.
