Secret Service
Today was Inauguration Day and there were millions of people there. It all began when we woke up at 3:30 am. I was so excited because of all of the commotion from everyone. We were planning on it to be very cold, so we had on wear 2-3 layers. On our way to the metro station we met up with a journalist of EDWeek and she took a few pictures of us .
The streets were jam packed with people who were proabably there since 1:00 am which was very amazing considering that we got there at 4:45 but didnt get past security until 9:00. Going through the lines into the Inauguration was a different and interesting experience. We were the most well behaved people there, even the adults were acting obnoxious and rude. They pushed and shoved I was amazed that we all stayed together and no one got hurt.
This event was one of the most heavily secured events I have every been to. There were snipers on roof tops, at the front gate you couldnt bring in food or liquids, and they had to pat you down to make sure you had no weapons.
I am very happy to be able to be one of the millions that was able to see Obama in person say his insightful speech and be sworn in to the White House. Come to our website to read all about my last two days in Washington D.C.

History is Revolutionary
January 17, 2009
Team and Family in the back of the US Capital. We'll see President Obama here on Wednesday.
Today everything we saw had a little part of history in it. For example at Georgetown University one of the oldest buildings on their campus was made from stone and had a very old looking structure sort of like a castle. This building is called Healy Hall and was named after Patrick Healy, their first Black college president.
Also today we visited Capitol Hill which was surrounded by The US Capitol, The Supreme Court, and The Library of Congress. The Library of Congress was one of the oldest buildings there and is used to hold information on laws so that the congress can just walk across the street if they needed information on a law.
As we went around The Capitol Building we saw 250,000 chairs outside, as they got ready for the Inauguration. I was wondering as I stood there who would be having these seats, celebrities, etc? Not us, we will be on the mall.
The last place we went today was The Air and Space Museum and it told us all about how to fly a plane, everything you wanted to know about space stations and former pilots, like Bessie Coleman. We learned how she was a leader. She was a leader because of how she followed her dream and didn't let anything get in her way or stop her.
Make sure you log on again tomorrow to learn more about my exciting day in Washington D.C.

My Exciting First Day In Washington
January 16, 2009
When I woke up this morning all I could think about was how tired I was which quickly changed when I had gotten to LAX. At first all we did was wait to get our bags checked in, but after that it was a rush, especially at the security check. We had to take off our shoes, all of our jackets, and had to take all computers, camcorders, and any electronics out of our bag to put it through. When we were done we headed towards the terminal to write our first journal entry of the trip. Soon after we were off.
The plane was so cool, we had our own personal tv on the back of each chair. Not only was it a tv it was a chat room, game system, food system (a place we ordered our drinks and food on the screen), and an on demand system where we can watch music videos and movies. The flight attendants were so nice. They always smiled and weren’t ever rude. This made my teammates and I feel welcomed and not as scared as we were before. That was until the plane started then we were panicked once again as we lifted off of the ground.
As we landed it had gotten a little bumpy and my friend bumped her head against the window but wasn't hurt because it was a gentle hit. Once we stepped off of the plane the air hit me in the face and instantly the air was filled with the steam from us breathing.
Next was the tram to our luggage. It seemed like forever before we all had gotten our luggage and ready to load the bus. We were the last to get on the bus so we had to struggle to get everyone on. In addition to the bus, we also road two Metro trains to where we started our walk. The walk wasn't that bad it was just freezing cold outside and my luggage made my trip a bit heavy. As we got to Ms. Mary's house we were welcomed warmly with smiles, pasta, and pizza. So far I am so happy we get to stay at Ms. Mary's to see how life in
