My Day at the Holocaust Museum

Though we could not take pictures, I can still tell you about my experience. While in the Holocast, many people knew that a lot of people died but what some people did not know was for instance, Anne Frank if she was able to stay in hiding for two more days would have been saved by the Royal British Army.

Also, the only surviving member of Anne Franks family that left alive was Anne Franks father Otto.

Dr. Josef Mengele cut up bodies of young twins usually around the age of four and five, he would test on them then later, and then kill them. There was not only men doctors there was one female doctor, her name was Dr. Herta Oberheuser. How Dr. Herta Oberheuser contributed was that she made wounds, then rubbed foriegn objects such as wood, rusty nails, slivers of glass, dirt or sawdust into the wounds. What I learned from the Holocaust musuem was hatred is a bad thing to have, because if you hate someone, in the long run even some hate is a little too much.

How my life is now in D.C.

In the morning, at 6:40 AM I felt tremendously excited because it was my first time on a Virgin America flight. I had heard a lot of good things about our trip, changes that I would go through while there and the anticipation was just hurting me to wait any longer. But sure enough, we got on the plane quickly and swiftly.

Getting to my seat was the second best moment on the plane. Time went on, my friend Kimberly sat in the same row as me. The plane was fun because on the air craft, you could do more things than you could think of. There is no way that any one, no matter how young or old could imagine all there is to do.

The number one most fun part besides all the games was when my friend Kimberly looked out of the window because the plane, as our altitude was lowering, she bumped her head on the window. We had a lot of laughter on that flight.

I would like to thank Virgin America for paying for my teammates and I to have a free flight across the country.

7:00 PM at Mary's house we arrived after having just walked a mile in the cold Washington, D.C. weather my first time. I'm sure that by tomorrow that I will be used to it. I cannot wait till tomorrow we are going to Georgetown University, the Air and Space Museum and the American holocaust museum, because History is Revolutionary (my extreme favorite subject). I hope to be a history major when I go to college. Thank you for reading!

Kaila Goes to Space

This morning was cold outside but warm inside my winter clothes. As soon as we all were all out side of the house we went straight to Georgetown University and got lost and ended up at the Georgetown University hospital, then we had to find our way back. There was limited time till we had to be at Healy hall in a couple minutes, I felt like I heard the time ticking. So we finally made it on time, and went inside to warm up. Then we headed back outside to start the tour, almost every building we learned about, went inside to warm up. There are two cannons outside of Healy Hall, also there was a seal before you walk in, no one dares to step it. Students believe that bad things will happen to you if you do, you won't graduate in four years. If your parents step on it, then you won't get the financial aid you need to attend. Healy Hall was named after Patrick Healy. He was the first African American president of Georgetown. I also learned what a Hoya is. A Hoya means "what is".

Today while we were at the US Capitol we learned many facts. Some examples that we learned about outside of the US Capitol is what they do inside of it. The Capitol is used to make and enforce laws. That is where our laws come from. Another place that we learned about was the Supreme Court. It is the highest court in our country. That is where if a law is passed that is questionable you may take it to the Supreme Court and they will solve it for you if it is felt that they law may be unconstitutional. The last place we learned about outside the US Capitol is the Library of Congress. In it, there are lots of large important law books. There is also lots of ancient artifacts.

Finally the last place we went to was the Air and Space Museum. In this Museum we learned about space and flight. We learned about the different layers of clothing the astronauts need to wear before going off to space. I tried on a space suit! Did you know that astronauts wear MAG's, which are like diapers? MAG stands for Maximum Absorbent Garment. We also went through the star station. I learned many things about space at the Air and Space Museum.
This was my second day full of exuberant learning experiences in Washington, DC.
