First day in Washington, DC

January 16, 2009

After so many hours of traveling we finally arrived home and fed my tummy some food. I would like to tell you all about my first day in Washington, DC. It all began when we got on the plane in Los Angeles at 7:30am.  I was up very early this morning, earlier than on a regular school day.

There were lots of fun games and wonderful TV channels. I played lots of exciting games throughout the wonderful flight. When we arrived at Virginia, two wonderful ladies commented to my friend Kaila and I about how cold it would be throughout the whole week. They told us to keep ourselves warm and to be careful at the Inauguration because there would be tons of excited people.

When we finally got off the plane we got on an enjoyable tram. The tram was very fun and we saw most of the runway where the planes land. When we got off the tram we went to grab our luggage. After grabbing our luggage we finally revealed ourselves to the cold weather outside. The weather outside was freezing! My entire body felt numb.

When our bus arrived we got on so we could go to the Metro station. When we were riding on the bus we were asked by so many people about how we made the trip and who sponsored us. Although we worked hard on our essays we really would not be here if it were not for Virgin America. I would really like to thank Virgin America for making our dream of being able to attend Barack Obama's Inauguration a reality. When we arrived at the metro station, Mr. Guidera kindly bought all of us Metro passes. The ride on the Metro was very exciting. We stepped out of the Metro and arrived at the bus stop. We missed the bus for being four minutes late, so we decided to walk from the bus stop to Mr. Guidera's relative, Ms. Mary. It was a mile long walk. Finally when we arrived at Ms. Mary's house we organized our things and ate pizza and pasta.

Since eating we've all been washing dishes, organizing the living room, and and writing.

This was my first day in Washington, DC.  Please come back and read about the rest of my trip here to find out what we've been doing.

Hi Kimberly, Glad to hear you made it to DC safe and sound. I'm sure you are a flying expert by now. I will be curious to see what trip you enjoy more: DC or our end of year lesson last year. I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts about life on the east coast, especially during winter time and what the vibe is like around town. Your most favorite AP, Mr. Jutabha
