KIPP Philosophers Academy

KIPP Philosophers Academy is a tuition-free public charter middle school that will open in the summer of 2012. KIPP Philosophers will serve approximately 130 fifth graders in 2012, and one grade will be added each year until 2015, when the school will serve grades 5-8.

The mission of KIPP Philosophers Academy is to provide students with an excellent education rooted in the arts, humanities, and philosophy so they are able to develop their own success in high school, college, and beyond with the ultimate goal of taking their knowledge and putting it into practice to impact their communities in a long lasting and positive way.

About Our Founding School Leader

Reginald Greene is the Founding School Leader of KIPP Philosophers Academy. Before opening KPA, Reginald completed his tenure as a Miles Family Fellow, splitting his leadership development between KIPP AMP Academy, KIPP Infinity, and KIPP Academy of Opportunity.

Reginald has been a member of the KIPP Team and Family for the last five years in a variety of roles at KIPP AMP Academy. In addition to teaching, Reginald served outside the classroom as a grade level chair, math department chair, instructional coach and Dean of Students.

Reginald began his teaching career as a Teach for America corps member in Miami-Dade County. At the age of fifteen Reginald attended Bard College at Simon’s Rock (the early college) and, upon transfer, received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago.
