National Junior Art Honor Society
On January 18, 2007, the KIPP: Los Angeles College Preparatory School received a national recognition and acceptance into The National Junior Art Honor Society. It is through the credit of the following students that helped this school achieve such national status: Vanessa Covarrubias, Erynn Ellis, Jerhson Hernandez, Valerie Herrera, Brenda Ramos, Valerie Sevilla, Ariana Baez, Pamela Fuentes, Jose Galvan, Sergio Herrera, Nayely Martinez, Jaqueline Rodriguez, Sandra Raygoza, and Jalissa Salazar.
Currently, the National Junior Art Honor Society has been promoting the art in the Boyle Heights, Lincoln Heights, Bel Aire, and Greater Los Angeles communities. They have done multiple art shows and have done many public speaking events.
In 2008, we will have a show at the Skilball Center, The Artist Colony (The Brewery) in Los Angeles, and our ground breaking ceremony in our new facility in Lincoln Heights.
The current eighth graders: Susanna Hernandez, Jessica Magana, David Marquez, Polly Hyun, Ana Hernandez are helping establigh an ART ALLEY at the Boys and Girls Club. They have been spending a couple hours everyday afterschool cleaning and redesigning an unused walkway and creating it to be their own space for art. They have been painting and drawing there after school. Through their talents in art, these students helped create a more beautiful place for themselves, humankind, and for all living things. They take all the elements of art and make a wonderful and inspirational statement for the world to understand and feel.
We want to thank and appreciate these students for their insightful artwork that they have done, are doing, and will do in their lives for all to be inspired.
