The Art Class Grading

 100%-90% = A        89%-80% =        79%-70%=        69%-0% = F

Projects= 45%     Homework= 25%     Sketchbook (Do Now)= 25%  Participation= 5%

   

 

THe GRADING POLICY OF THE ART CLASS

A.        Mastery Level of Understanding: 100% - 90%

Has a comprehensive historical knowledge of subject matter

Is able to talk of major characteristics of the style/ design

Can clearly describe emotions of the art piece by having specific feelings and ideas
of the subject matter
Goes beyond the 'prompt' (format) with creativity by showing very little if not any
rhetorical/ copying responses to the prompt
Shows strong understanding of mediums used and the tools used in creating the art
 

B.        Developmental Level of Understanding: 89% - 80%
 
Has a basic historical knowledge of subject matter.
Is able to talk about the fundamental characteristics of the style/ design
Can basically describe the emotions of the art piece by showing feelings and ideas of
the subject matter
Follows the prompt (format) exactly, with no sense of personal creativity by showing
rhetorical/ copying responses to the prompt
Has a basic understanding of mediums used and the tools used in creating the art
 

C.        Beginning Level of Understanding: 79% - 70%

Missing historical knowledge of the subject matter 
Is able to simply talk about fundamental characteristics of the style/ design
Talks about off subject elements, can only simply describe the emotions and ideas
of the art piece
Simply follows the prompt (format), with missing components and shows ‘off topic’
elements.
Quite a lot of mechanical mistakes of mediums used and the tools used
 
F.         Failing Level of Understanding: 69% - 0%
 
Does not have any or little historical knowledge of the subject matter 
Can not talk about fundamental characteristics of the style/ design
Talks about off subject elements, can not describe the emotions of the art piece

by showing feelings and ideas of the subject matter
Does not follow the prompt (format) and shows ‘off topic’ elements.
