Critiquing An Author's Argument
The first unit will prove to be an exciting one for our KIPPsters! For the first 10 weeks of school, they will be reading powerful literature, and will doing the following in class:
1) Identifying an author's argument or perspective in various texts.
2) Evaluating the evidence that an author uses to present an argument.
3) Writing a response to literature essay for the novel Night.
4) Analyzing bias and stereotypes in Holocaust propaganda.
5) Visiting a Holocaust museum and speaking with a Holocaust survivor.
6) Refining their writing and editing skills through Writer's Workshop.
