Commitment to Excellence

At the beginning of every year, all KIPP Raíces Academy teachers, students, and parents must sign one of the following Commitment to Excellence forms.

Teachers'/Founding Principal's Commitment.

We will fully commit to KIPP Raíces Academy in the following ways:

  • We will do whatever it takes to teach the knowledge and skills, nurture the confidence and character, and inspire the passion needed for our students to achieve their goals, excel in the competitive world, and positively impact the community.
  • We will always work to improve our craft to best meet the needs of our students and teammates.
  • We will be available to parents and students by phone and in person.
  • We will arrive by 7:30 am and work hard until 5:00 pm each day.
  • We will participate fully in grade level meetings and staff development meetings.
  • We will teach at KIPP Raíces Academy and attend professional development sessions during the summer.
  • We will live and teach the values of KIPP Raíces Academy every day.

We understand that if these commitments are not met, we will receive consequences, including possibly being released.

Parents/Guardians' Commitment.

We will fully commit to KIPP Raíces Academy in the following ways:

  • We will always help our child in the best way we know how and we will do whatever it takes to support him/her in learning the knowledge and skills, nurturing the confidence and character, and inspiring the passion needed for our child to achieve his/her goals, excel in the competitive world, and positively impact the community.
  • Every night, we will read with our child, and we will read and check carefully all papers our child brings home, including homework. We will call the teacher if there is a problem with the homework.
  • We will always make ourselves available to our children and the school and address any concerns they might have. This also means that if our child is going to miss school, we will notify the teacher as soon as possible.
  • We will ensure that our child attends KIPP Raíces Academy summer school.
  • We allow our child to go on KIPP Raíces Academy field trips.
  • We will make sure our child follows the KIPP Raíces Academy dress code.
  • We understand that our child must follow the KIPP Raíces Academy rules so as to protect the safety, interests, and rights of all individuals in the school. We will be responsible for the behavior and actions of our child.
  • We will make sure that that our child arrives at KIPP Raíces Academy every day by 8:00 am Monday through Friday and stays throughout the instructional day, including supplemental instruction opportunities.

We understand that not fulfilling these commitments will result in consequences including loss of privileges for my child and possibly even removal of my child from the school.

Student's Commitment.

I will fully commit to KIPP Raíces Academy in the following ways:

  • I will always come to school prepared to work hard, make good choices, and live the values of KIPP Raíces Academy. I will do whatever it takes for me and my fellow students to learn.
  • I will thoroughly complete all of my homework well every night and seek help if there is a problem with the homework. I will raise my hand and ask questions in class if I do not understand something.
  • I will always behave so as to protect the safety, interests, and rights of all individuals in the school. I will follow the teachers' directions.
  • I will follow the KIPP Raíces Academy dress code.
  • I will attend KIPP Raíces Academy during summer school.
  • I will make sure that that I arrive at KIPP Raíces Academy every day by 8:00 am Monday through Friday and stay throughout the instructional day, including supplemental instruction opportunities.
  • I am responsible for my own behavior and choices.

I understand that not fulfilling these commitments, I will receive consequences, including loss of privileges and possibly even removal from the school.
