Q: Is a credential required to teach at a KIPP LA school?
A: KIPP LA teachers must hold or be in the process of earning a valid California teaching credential for the subject and/or grade level they will teach. KIPP LA staff will help teachers holding out-of-state credentials obtain a valid California credential.

Q: Is teaching experience required?
A: Candidates for lead teaching positions must have at least two years of full-time classroom teaching experience.

Q: What else do you look for in an ideal candidate?
A: We seek educators who are committed to working with educationally under-served students; hold high expectations for every student; possess strong content area knowledge and classroom management skills; communicate well with students, families, and colleagues; and have achieved strong results in the past.

Q: What are the hours at KIPP LA schools?
A: KIPP LA middle school students typically attend school from 7:30 am to 5 pm; our elementary students are typically in school from 8 am to 4:30 pm. On average, KIPP LA teachers work 10 or 11 hours per day.

Q: What is the salary at KIPP LA schools? Are there benefits?
A: Our salaries are based on the Los Angeles Unified School District salary schedule, with an additional stipend included for the extra hours required. Full benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401k) are included.
