KIPP LA Results

Middle School Achievement.

Although students typically enroll in KIPP LA's middle schools performing two to three years below grade level, our students ultimately rise to meet the high expectations set by their caring and supportive teachers. KIPP LA seventh and eighth grade students outperform their peers in the Los Angeles Unified School District by 34 percent in English language arts and 40 percent in math.

KIPP LA Four Year Effect 2006-2007 Eighth Graders 

According to the 2011 Academic Performance Index (API), which measures the performance of California schools based on how their students perform on the California Standards Tests (CST), KIPP LA’s middle schools were ranked among the top 20 percent of middle schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. KIPP LA Prep is the top performing middle school in the Los Angeles Unified School District, and each KIPP LA school outperformed all its neighboring public middle schools. The API scale ranges from 200 to 1000.

Elementary School Achievement.

At the elementary level, our goal is to ensure our students never face the achievement gap. Though many of our students entered kindergarten without basic letter and number recognition skills, by the end of the year, 90 percent were reading and performing math at or above the national average.

At KIPP Raíces Academy, KIPP LA’s first elementary school, our second grade students are proving what's possible in public education. Our teachers strive to create a foundation of educational excellence from the beginning. As a result, KIPP Raíces Academy "Achievers" are performing ahead of expectations in both math and English language arts.

In 2010-11, KIPP Raíces Academy students outperformed their peers across the district and state by wide margins. Based on their 2011 API score, KIPP Raíces Academy is the fourth highest performing elementary school in LAUSD.
