About KIPP Empower Academy

KIPP Empower Academy is founded on the belief that all students can learn and lead lives of significance. All of our students – roughly 330 kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders in 2012-13, and 550 students in kindergarten through fourth grade by 2014 – will be on the path to and through college.

When our students complete fourth grade at KEA, they will be equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in college-preparatory middle schools. Our students will take pride in their unique identities and will work hard, be nice, stay strong, and make good choices to fulfill their potential. They will emerge from their years at KIPP empowered and ready to seize upon the vast array of opportunities they find before them.

Currently, eighty-seven percent of KEA students are African American and twelve percent are Latino.  Ninety-one percent of students qualify for the federal free and reduced lunch program.
