About KTC LA

When a child enters a KIPP LA elementary or middle school, the students, parents, and teachers make a promise to help the student successfully “climb the mountain to and through college.” In keeping the promise, KIPP Through College (“KTC”) program continues to support students who complete the eighth grade at KIPP on their journey to remain on the path to college. As a comprehensive advocacy and support program for KIPP LA region, the mission of KTC is to empower the alumni to continue to use their KIPP-learned intellectual habits, knowledge, and character traits in their current school and in life to attend and complete college as well as further their communities.

The fundamental goal of the KIPP Through College program is to ensure that more than 80% of KIPP LA alumni who complete 8th grade in our schools go on to college and become successful in college. To complete this goal, KTC concentrates on key attainment areas:

1) KIPP LA middle school graduates will attend a college preparatory high school and pursue college-prep curriculum,

2) KIPP alumni will continue to focus high achievement at the secondary level and prepare for success in college,

3) KIPP alumni will have access to and take advantage of college planning services provided by the KIPP Through College program, and

4) KIPP LA alumni will earn a degree from a post-secondary institution within six years of graduating from high school.
