KIPP Comienza Community Prep is a free college-preparatory public charter elementary school that opened in the summer of 2010 in the Southeastern City of Los Angeles. KIPP Comienza is a part of the national KIPP network of 209 schools in 20 states and D.C.; it currently serves 826 students in kindergarten through sixth grade, for the 2017/2018 school year.
KIPP Comienza Community Prep is built on the belief that great schools and strong relationships transform communities. The mission of KIPP Comienza is to teach the academic skills, cultivate the character traits, provide the learning experiences, and forge the community relationships needed for our elementary students to thrive in middle school, high school, college, and life.
Hadley Huberman is the co-school leader at KIPP Comienza Community Prep. Upon joining KIPP in 2012, Ms. Huberman taught kindergarten for a year. She subsequently moved to third grade to found the grade level and become the Grade Level lead for the founding team. Ms. Huberman then moved on to become the assistant school leader at KIPP Comienza where she was responsible for managing, coaching, and developing the third and fourth grade teams. She received her M.A. in Administration and Policy in Urban Education from Loyola Marymount University and her B.A. in English Literature from The University of Washington
